Loango
The Jewel Of Africa
Synopsis
The flooded areas of the Loango National Park, Gabon, form an extraordinary and complex mosaic of deeply interwoven biotopes. A particularly rare place where beaches, meadows, lagoons and forests are juxtaposed and interlocked. Its exceptional value is accentuated by the fact that this large wetland has remained intact since thousands of years. Men have never settled there.
At Loango, the water cycle controls all animal and plant life. Elephants, hippos, gorillas and other species that inhabit the park must adapt to times when water invades everything and to those when it runs out.
Subject to its whims, they must adapt to an itinerant life in order to survive.
