Ushuaïa Nature

Tension in troubled waters

Synopsis

Animal migrations are natural wonders. Nicolas Hulot starts his journey in Botswana, in a vast salt pan, where thousands of pink flamingos have just left their huge nesting site, three weeks ahead of the normal period. Most probably a consequence of the climate change, which impacts so many other species.

With scientists, Nicolas then dives in the middle of the giant sardine run, along the coast of South Africa, amongst sharks, gannets, dolphins and whales. Sardines migrate in the cold current that goes along the East coast at a particular time of the year, and marine predators converge to the feast. The team of Ushuaïa Nature carries on following zebra migration along the Boteti river of Botswana, and ends up close to Cape Town, diving with the great white shark… another migratory species. 4 different examples of animal migrations to understand the way species cope with the ecosystem they live in.
